It’s been a very tough year, but remember what you’ve achieved

If you’re anything like me, then the end of 2020 can’t come soon enough.

I think it’s safe to say that the phrase annus horribilis could have been invented for the past 12 months, but – and I admit in light of everything that has happened it’s a tiny ‘but’ – there has been at least one positive: we’ve all learned an awful lot.

We’ve embraced new ways of working. We’ve discovered new things about ourselves, our teams, our businesses, our suppliers and our clients.

We’ve also realised, out of necessity, that the adage of any decision is better than no decision has never been truer.

And most importantly, we’ve learned that whatever life throws at us, however difficult or painful it is, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

No one can pretend that the rollercoaster ride is over and there won’t be more challenges headed our way in the coming months. But for now, let’s just be grateful we’ve made it this far and overcome business challenges that, before this pandemic hit, we would not have dared imagine it would be possible to conquer.

2020 is clearly a year that many of us would rather forget, but let’s remember what we’ve achieved – because I suspect that while your business may look significantly different today than it did in January, if you had been offered this current status quo in the darkest days of April you would have taken it in a heartbeat.

So, on behalf of myself and the entire Printweek team WELL DONE for getting through what has been an extraordinary year.

And we would like to wish you and your teams, if not quite as merry and happy as we would have liked, a restful Christmas and a better new year.
