SCR Envelopes has become ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certified, and claimed it is the first independent UK overprinter to gain the certification.

The company decided to go for the certifications after several of its clients requested the standards.

Chris Iredale, sales and marketing director at the 61-staffed company, said: "We were awarded the accreditations after we demonstrated the key criteria and excellent quality in work and approach.

"In addition, we were also able to demonstrate best practice in our approach to environmental issues."

The accreditations were gained across SCR and Tower Supplies, which merged last summer.

SCR Envelopes provides alternatives to flat sheet colour printing and four-colour printing.
