Securing a two-year contract with Sheffield City Council, the Canning Town, London-based business will produce annual canvass printing and mailing.
This win will strengthen the company’s presence in the South Yorkshire region, following successful contract wins with the City of Doncaster Council, which also included production of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Election, and Rotherham Council.
The two-year contract has an annual value of £250,000 and will see the company produce all statutory canvass communications, comprising approximately 500,000 documents and packs per annum.
The contract is expected to start on 1 July 2025 for a period of 12 months, with an option to extend this for an additional 12 months subject to service level agreements being met.
Ian Forster, chief growth officer at FDM, said: “We are thrilled to have been selected by Sheffield City Council for this critical electoral work.
“This contract reinforces our specialist expertise in handling time-critical, electoral mailings at scale, and highlights the confidence that major local authorities continue to place in our capabilities.
“Winning this contract, on the back of our successful delivery of recent local election projects, including the South Yorkshire 2024 Mayoral Election where we were responsible for producing and distributing more than one million documents to electors across the region, demonstrates how we continue to set the benchmark for secure, efficient, and compliant electoral mailings.
“It also enables us to invest further in our people, processes and print infrastructure to support long-term growth.”
Separately, the business has also secured a new strategic partnership with a supplier of electoral software and services to the UK public sector whose identity has not been disclosed.
Beginning in 2026, this collaboration will see FDM deliver secure, high-quality electoral print and mail output on behalf of more than 15 local authorities.
This deal is worth around £500,000 per annum and, as part of the agreement, the company will support with the production and fulfilment of statutory election materials including poll cards, postal vote packs, and ballot papers.
FDM CEO Richard Farmer said: “This agreement leverages our long-standing expertise in electoral communications, rigorous compliance with electoral law, and our robust production infrastructure.
“The partnership reflects growing trust in our ability to manage large-scale, time-critical electoral communications, with full integration across client systems and seamless data handling.
“It also reinforces our continued investment in secure print technology and capacity planning in the lead-up to major electoral cycles.”
Finally, the company has signed a further strategic partnership with a major global marketing and communications management business, whose name has also not been disclosed.
Delivering regulatory and customer communications at scale, the value of the agreement is expected to be “well in excess of seven figures per annum”.
Expected to commence within the next four weeks, the partnership will see the business provide critical print and mail support for regulated time-sensitive communications across a range of sectors to a global client base.
Farmer added: “This appointment reflects growing recognition of our capacity, resilience and proven expertise in managing large-scale communications on behalf of leading organisations.
“The collaboration will support our ongoing expansion and will be underpinned by continued investment in high-speed production technology, automated finishing equipment, and operational infrastructure, ensuring we remain at the forefront of secure, compliant, and time-critical delivery.”
FDM told Printweek that it will be producing all documents for the new contracts in-house using its Canon ColorStream 3900 Z inkjet presses and its recently installed pair of Bowe Fusion Cross high-speed production mail inserting systems.
The 65-staff company’s turnover is expected to reach £26m with the new contract wins.
In February, FDM revealed that it had secured a three-year contract to supply the electoral documentation for Oxford Council, while also celebrating a further three-year contract to work with the revenue and benefits team at Buckinghamshire Council.
