Water-based thermal laminator is first of new range for Autobond

Coating equipment manufacturer Autobond has released a new combination water-based thermal laminator, the first in a series of launches.

The Mini 76 AT is aimed at companies that want to run biodegradable film with high run lengths and low labour costs.

It can handle stock from A4 up to 76x102cm in weights between 90gsm and 650gsm. Like the rest of Autobond's mini laminators, the 76 is designed to fit into limited space, with a footprint of 3.9x1.6m.

It is equipped with a rewind unit for handling water-based adhesive film and the standard suction-drum version can run at up to 45m a minute.

Autobond managing director John Gilmore said: "Water-based adhesive film is about half the price of thermal film, but it requires greater skill from the laminator operator.

"In countries where labour costs are lower but where the market for laminating is large, the new Mini 76 AT provides the perfect opportunity to produce all types of laminating cost effectively."
