Walstead Investments acquires Apple Web Offset

Walstead Investments, owner of Wyndeham Press Group, has acquired Apple Web Offset, putting an end to a period of uncertainty for the 84-staff commercial printer.

The Warrington business, which has been rebranded as Wyndeham Apple, was the last remaining print subsidiary of Trader Publishing, part of Trader Media Group (TMG).

The acquisition is Walstead's third such deal in the past two years and moves Wyndeham into the newsprint and low-gsm printing market, an offering that complements its magazine heatset printing services.

It handles a range of clients that include Trader Media Group, Guardian Newspapers, RTE Publications and Manchester Evening News.

Through the deal, the contracts for AutoTrader and other TMG group titles including Truck Trader, Farmers Trader and Ireland AutoTrader, have been renewed for an additional 42 months

Wyndeham Apple operates from a 10,200m2 facility in Warrington and outputs 1.4m copies each week.

Work is carried out across three Manroland Uniset 64pp presses, one Komori System 20 8pp cover press, two Muller Martini Corona C12 perfect binders and four Muller Martini stitching lines.

Wyndeham Apple will operate as part of Wyndeham’s web division, which comprises Wyndeham Heron, Wyndeham Impact and Southernprint.

The enlarged Wyndeham Group now employs more than 900 staff across eight operations producing 500 weekly and monthly titles.
