Micropress has expanded its publishing wing with the acquisition of MM Media.

The Bexhill-based firm publishes long-standing engineering title Machinery Market, which has been going since 1879.

The title joins Micropress Printers' publishing division Countrywide Publications.

MM Media’s four directors said that the sale to Micropress would secure the long-term future of the title and the synergies involved and “can only enhance the Machinery Market brand and scale its offering to the UK and international manufacturing and engineering sectors”.

The current directors and staff will remain in place under the Countrywide Publications banner, continuing to manage the magazine, its websites and social media channels.

The deal completed at the end of last month.

Micropress joint managing director Rob Cross said: “It's a nice magazine to add to our current portfolio and is a good fit for us.”

Countrywide Publications publishes a range of titles focused on the agricultural, forestry, leisure and tourism sectors.

Paul Liptrott of KBS Corporate advised MM Media on the transaction, and said he was delighted to have brought it to a successful conclusion.

“I’m very pleased for MM Media to have found a new home in Micropress,” he said.

“They are now positioned with continuation secured, which is important to the team.”

He wished the team all the best for the future.

Reydon-based Micropress employs just under 200 people and had sales of around £30m last year.

The award-winning Suffolk firm has been on a major investment drive, with its new highly-specified Speedmaster XL 106-8P with Plate to Unit automation going into production this month.
