The Telford web and sheetfed printer teamed with long-term partner Linde Material Handling on the switch. Linde has been the firm’s lift truck supplier for more than 10 years.
PCP’s older forklifts were gas-powered.
The new trucks also feature the latest safety features, including speed control, enhanced pedestrian lighting, intelligent load assist and active fleet management telemetry systems.
Managing director Nick Evans said the switch was part of the firm’s drive to improve efficiency while reducing its environmental impact.
“Thanks to our strong partnership with Linde, we are embracing a future where sustainability and safety go hand in hand,” he said.
“Their latest Li-Ion electric forklift technology enables us to enhance our operations without compromising on safety or performance.”
PCP specialises in magazine, catalogue and brochure printing along with mailing and fulfilment.
The firm was acquired by Hypax last year, and has implemented a number of changes and investments to improve efficiency since.
In the year to 28 December 2024 PCP posted sales down 11.4% at just under £27.9m, but the business made a big improvement in profitability and was back in the black at the operating level, posting a £39,002 profit compared with the prior year’s £1.9m loss.
The directors said that efficiency gains of nearly £2m would benefit the firm’s results this year and next.
A new shift pattern has also been in operation since April as part of PCP’s “fitness programme”.
