KBA UK has recruited Trevor Tordoff as an area sales manager for northern England. He is leaving his production manager post at Trader Media Group and will report to executive sales director Mark Nixon. Tordoff has spent 22 years working in print production.

Turning Point Technologies has made Gary Fisher its technical sales manager. Fisher previously worked at print managers Williams Lea and Quddos as well as pre-press outfit EC2i.

Horton Print has replaced an old Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46 with a new one and is boasting more reliability, productivity and functionality. Lawrence Riches, director of the firm in Sutton Coldfield, said: "It offers spare capacity and opportunity to increase sales."
 
Philtone Litho in Bristol has used a new non-leafing silver from MetalFX for a booklet showing off the latter's applications. MFX Silvercoat base ink was used by graphic artist Mark Mayers in a design relying on high contrast between metallic hues and the four-colour process.

Apago has launched version 3.1 of its PDF Enhancer for automating the assembly, preparation and optimisation of PDF for print, web and archiving. Professional and Server Editions create impositions including N-up, step and repeat booklets. Distributor Positive Focus supplies the package, which goes on show at Ipex, for Windows or Macintosh.
