Overmatter: tit for tat

The Apprentice is back, and Overmatter is of course glued to the television of a Wednesday evening, awaiting the latest puffed up pronouncements from this year’s array of egotistical maniacs.

It didn’t take long for there to be a print-related task, with week two’s comic creations involving an augmented reality cover, no less. Overmatter was still searching for the details of the printer involved with producing the comics and related standee figures at the time of going to press. Who are you?

There was, though, another aspect of the new series that caught the eye. A trailer featuring spoof Apprentice merchandise including branded alarm clocks, a commemorative plate (“hiring and firing since 2005”), t-shirts and a Lord Sugar maneki-neko – want! – concluded with his lordship riding a steamroller over the lot and declaring “I asked you to make me some quality merchandise, not this tat. You’re fired”.

This was deeply upsetting as there is genuinely nothing Overmatter would like more than a t-shirt with a 'Keep Claude and Carry On' design.

We reckon the Beeb is missing a trick here. A line of Apprentice merch would surely be a bestseller? We can help with some printing contacts…
