Overmatter: icing on the cake

Overmatter loves weddings. And cake. And what have we here? Yes, it’s a print-themed wedding cake. Let joy be unconfined!

Vale Press commercial director Tom Stowe married long-term partner Rachel Harris, who also works at the Cotswolds print business, just before Christmas.

The pair turned to boutique chocolatiers Choccywoccydoodah to realise their vision of bringing a bit of the day job to their special day. Well, in fact, it was the vision of their eight-year-old son Oscar, who loves printing presses. His younger brother Harry (three) being a bit too young to have developed such an appreciation just yet.

“We have all sorts of presses here, including cylinders, and Oscar is a big Heidelberg enthusiast. The cake designer loved the old presses too. It is quite amazing how they got a printing press onto the cake,” says Tom.

With the whole Stowe family involved in the business, the cake reveal on the big day proved a huge hit with guests. “They were so excited to see it, and yes, it did taste as good as it looks!” Tom happily confirms.

The cake contained three scrumptious layers: Guinness and white chocolate, coconut and praline, and lemon and dark chocolate. Perfectly bound, indeed.
