The new facility in Cramlington is located a short walk from the company’s two main sites. It said this expansion was designed to meet the increasing printing demands of its flagship brand, Printed.com, as well as the growing portfolio of brands under its PrintedDirect division, which was launched in 2023.
With this expansion, the company said its total operational space now exceeds 4,600sqm, with the new facility contributing an additional 557sqm.
The new factory has been specifically allocated to large-format printing, an area that has experienced 35% year-on-year growth in sales for the business.
The site will house equipment including two HP R2000 printers, several Canon and HP reel-fed printers, and a wide array of finishing kit, such as advanced board cutting and guillotine systems.
The company said it has invested nearly £1m in its new kit, which is in the process of being installed currently, with the new site due to be fully operational by mid-June.
The business told Printweek it is also investing in a new Polar guillotine and Titanium CNC cutter to go alongside an existing Titanium CNC, with further investment to come.
“This expansion reflects our commitment to innovation and excellence in the print industry,” said Rob Haycock, CEO of The Printed Group.
“By investing in this new facility, we’re enhancing our capabilities to meet high-volume demands while maintaining the quality we’re known for. We’re thrilled to continue supporting businesses with unparalleled service and product variety, and this is just one of many exciting developments coming in 2025.”
The Printed Group said the expansion would also drive economic growth in the local community by creating a range of new career opportunities, and paving the way for new apprenticeship programs.
Established in 1989, The Printed Group’s turnover is set to exceed £27m in its current financial year, with its employee number rising to over 200.
Haycock was appointed as CEO of The Printed Group in April. Printed.com founder Nick Green, meanwhile, left the business.
