OKI debuts C9850 and names European chief at TPE

OKI is giving a UK debut to its new colour printer, the C9850, at this year's Total Print! Expo.

The company's European division has also just appointed Tetsuhei Kawamura in the role of chief executive officer and chairman.

Kawamura, who is relocating to London as part of the appointment, will be charged with building on the OKI's distribution strategy in the EMEA region.

He said: "Our relationship with the channel in EMEA has proved key to our successful sales performance."
The new A3 C9850 can handle substrates ranging from 55-300gsm at print speeds of up to 36ppm full colour, and 40ppm in mono mode.

According to the manufacturer, the C9850 is targeted at commercial or in-plant operations and features an EFI Fiery System 8e controller and Smart Rip technology.

OKI is also showcasing the Degrava DP 8500 and C9650XF proofer throughout the show.

The 7.6mph Degrava is a 600dpi short-run label printer, which is targeted at colour labels, tag and other narrow web applications.

The oversize A3 C9650XF produces 19 colour A3 proofs per minute or 21 A3 pages in mono operation.

The company will be exhibiting on Stand 415 at this year's Total Print! Expo, which takes place from 14-16 October at Earls Court 2, London.
