St Ives Web has produced the launch editions of three magazines for Imagine Publishing 128pp <i>Mac Creative</i>, 100pp <i>Photoshop Creative</i> and 132pp <i>Digital Video Techniques</i>. The three titles have a print-run of around 35,000 issues each. All three were produced on M600 webs at St Ives Andover.

Basingstoke Press has installed a Kodak NexPress 2100 digital colour press to increase its production capacity while controlling operating costs. The machine delivers digital colour printing, adding to the firm's litho and letterpress print processes, five Kodak Digimaster 9110s and four Digimaster 9150 printers.

London Drawing Office has placed an order with Heidelberg for a Printmaster PM 52-5 five-colour press and a Prosetter platesetter as the firm prepares to move to new premises. The company, which was founded by Fatah Abi in 1997 and will likely be renamed Chelsea Printers, is moving from the third to the ground floor of its current premises, increasing its floor-space from 250sqm to 350sqm.

Northern Regional Skills co-ordinators Yvonne Ritchie, Helen Bradbury and Russell Morgan, all of Amicus GPM Sector, hosted a Union Learning Conference on 11 October. The event, which was held at the North Lakes Hotel in Cumbria, was attended by more than 45 people. The day's first speaker was Bernard Rutter, head of organising, learning and skills for the GPM Sector

Century Litho is printing a book that showcases the work of exhibitors who displayed at September's Cornwall Design Week. The book will be printed on Century Litho's new Mitsubishi Diamond B1 six-colour press the first of its type in the south west.

The Northern Packaging Dinner, held at the Midland Hotel, Manchester on the 27 October, raised more than 7,000 for the charity Manchester Kids. 375 guests from across the packaging supply chain, including printers, repro houses, agencies, retailers and brand owners, attended the Keating Group-sponsored event, which is in its 49th year.

Danwood has bought London-based Ibex Office Systems, which supplies Sharp, HP, Panasonic, Konica Minolta and Ricoh kit. Ibex has a turnover of around 4m and has offices in the City and Wimbledon. "Ibex grows our customer base on the multi-function equipment side, which is a vital market for Danwood," said Danwood director Gerry Mulvaney. "We have other acquisitions on the cards and some of those are in the south."
