Copyprint has passed its Investors in People (IIP) review. Sales director Des Brennan accepted the IIP certificate from assessors Capital Quality, which was represented by its finance director, Hugh Armstrong. The company initially received accreditation in 2002.

Breckland Print has won an environmental award at the 2005 EDP Business Awards. The Attleborough, Norfolk-based print firm was the first in East Anglia to achieve ISO 14001 accreditation in 1998. "Sustainability is part of our ongoing culture and, having appeared in this category over a number of years, it is great to finally receive recognition for the business," commented Breckland Print managing director Philip Colchester.

MWL Print has invested in a reverse osmosis and eco.clean system from Technotrans, which allows for consistent water hardness and purity in the printing process. It also provides good water/solvent separation, while the eco.clean recycles any chemistry waste. The Pontypool-based company was awarded ISO 14001 accreditation in 1999.

Polestar, ProCo and PrintYorkshire are to represent the printing industry at an event that is designed to attract students to training opportunities. Business Link South Yorkshire will host the Creative Gymnasium, which aims to showcase the latest career opportunities in print, marketing, film and music. Pitney Bowes has raised 11,270 in this year's "Pushing the Envelope" charity auction. Envelopes designed by celebrities such as Kate Winslet and Stephen Fry were auctioned on eBay earlier this month in aid of the National Literacy Trust.

Leach Colour's new Huddersfield HQ was opened last week by HRH The Countess of Wessex. She toured the 2m site and lunched with staff and customers before unveiling a plaque commemorating her visit. "These new purpose-built premises are the second to be built in the firm's 114-year history," said managing director Richard Leach.
