The Batley, West Yorkshire-based business took delivery of the machine around two weeks ago.
The Moll Compact is a friction fed folder/gluer that can be used to produce folding pillow packs, straight-line cartons, room key card holders, coffee cup sleeves and more. AB Print Group’s machine also features a double-sided tape head.
The Compact can handle cover stock paper and heavy board, in weights from 140-500gsm, and with a maximum linear speed of 130m/min. It can handle products in size from a minimum of 139x139mm up to a maximum of 838x635mm.
Max Williamson, who works at AB Print Group and whose father Alan Williamson is the managing director, told Printweek: “We wanted to bring more work in-house and open up some prospects for the future in terms of packaging.
“We were previously sending loads of work out and we thought an investment in a machine like this would hopefully broaden our horizons in terms of what work and processes we can do.
“We can now do taping, double flap folders, little key card holders – a variety of stuff, it’s been really good so far.”
AB Print Group also runs two Komori Lithrone litho presses, digital kit from Canon and Xerox and Fujifilm large-format, as well as Sias screen printing equipment.
It offers a wide range of finishing services in-house including die-cutting, foiling, folding, binding, and cylinder work.
