IFABC launches free newspaper circulation database

The new online service will cover headline circulation data for 34 global markets.

The International Federation of Audit Bureaux of Circulation, the umbrella association for the worldwide network of newspaper and magazine audit bureaus, has developed the free online resource using data collated from its international membership. It is accessible on the IFABC's newly revamped website.

Site visitors will be able to access and compare circulation data from as far back as 2008 for paid-for and free national newspapers around the world.

The information will be updated annually while circulation figures for local newspapers and consumer magazines will be added to the database over the next year where the information is provided by member countries.

The IFABC has developed the resource to help print and media buyers and planners develop comprehensive metrics for print, track trends and monitor movement towards digital channels.

IFABC president Jerry Wright said: "There was a clear industry need for an accessible and transparent data source, providing accurate and comparable audited data on a worldwide scale.

"The newly launched IFABC site will help to promote the necessary transfer of knowledge and experience across the media world and showcase the growing number of global digital metrics IFABC members can report."
