Best Cover closes former Celloglas Manchester site

Lamination specialist Best Cover UV has closed its former Celloglas Manchester facility, just three months after buying it out of administration.

A meeting of creditors for subsidiary company Best Cover (Manchester) has been called for 16 June 2009, at which point the company is expected to go into liquidation with insolvency practitioner O'Hara & Co.

The company had employed 12 staff but all positions have now been made redundant.

According to Best Cover UV managing director Darren Crake, the site has lost more than £100,000 since February, when it was bought as Celloglas sold off or closed several of its sites.

However, he said that the company's other former Celloglas facility, located in Bristol, was "meeting its targets".

He said: "Some of the figures that we were initially supplied with were not quite what I expected. To be honest the work is not there anymore and there is a lot of competition in that area. We felt that the site could not be sustained going forward."
