Print Fair sounds out potential for bespoke recordings in cards

Web-to-print software specialist Print Fair has unveiled a new generation of bespoke greetings cards that boast the ability to play a personalised recorded message.

The Moonpig-rivalling launch, which is the product of an exclusive partnership between Print Fair and Israeli firm VoiceYourFeelings, brings a new concept to the burgeoning UK greetings card market.

Visitors to the website VoiceYourFeelings.com can record a personalised message up to 20 seconds in length before adding an optional sound effect or celebrity message to the greeting.

The customer then selects a design for the card from a range available on the site. Printing of the card is outsourced to Exeter-based Peninsular, which produces each piece on 300gsm stock on its HP Indigo 5000 press.

The company offers a 24-hour turnaround on each card with prices falling at around £5.95.

David Hyams, chief executive of Print Fair, said the partnership with VoiceYour-Feelings was part of a move "to provide consumers with increasingly relevant communications and gifts".

He said: "Vocal greetings is an area as yet undeveloped by the greetings card industry and we believe that it will prove very successful with customers around the globe.

"Everybody is trying to get in on the personalised greetings card market and just because you’re cheaper than the next company, that doesn’t mean you’re any better."

In addition to the printed card service, Print Fair is offering a free-to-use Facebook application that allows users to send recorded messages online to their friends and family.

Hyams added that the company also planned to develop software to allow users to record messages and order cards directly from their smartphones "in the future".

In September, Print Fair launched what it claimed was the UK’s first quality direct mail on-demand service, Real Print, pitched at SMEs as a cost-efficient way to use direct mail campaigns.
