The Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75, which features a coater, is the second part of a £1.5m dual press investment made by the Cramlington, Northumberland-based business at Drupa.
The XL75 machine replaces an outgoing CD74 model and complements a SX74 press, which has been installed since returning from the event in May.
Potts Print (UK) managing director Shaun Johnson said: With today’s fast turnaround demands, a coating unit is most essential. The work going on to the XL75 will be almost 100% coated high quality work.
"It will do short run packaging and commercial work up to 800 microns in thickness. The SX74 will do short-run four colour uncoated jobs and medium to long run spot colour work up to 200gsm."
Potts has specified its new XL75 press with Heidelberg's Inpress Control technology for colour control and consistency.
Johnson added: ""Colour consistency and the ability to control colour to a specific client’s needs are a given.
"The thing that impressed us most is the fact that you no longer need to scan the sheet offline and wait for the colour to be controlled."
The addition of the B2 machines, which brings its press count to eight, has resulted in the company taking on five new press operators, expanding its 162-strong team.
