IMM launches free e-commerce platform for graphic artists

Gibraltar-based e-commerce developer Internet Media Marketing (IMM) has partnered with printers including Precision Printing and The Print Foundry to launch a new web-to-print business aimed at the greetings cards and wall art markets.

IMM developed Createtoday as an online marketplace (createtoday.com) for graphic artists, photographers and other content owners to sell their images as print-on-demand products, including personalised greetings cards, postcards and wall art.

It has now also launched a software widget to allow content owners to sell direct from their own websites by integrating them with the Createtoday e-commerce platform.

Content owners are paid a commission of 20% of the gross sale price for greetings cards and 15% for wall art. Users of the Createtoday widget will also receive 10% commission on all sales resulting from traffic from their own website.

According to IMM founder and chief executive Julian Jarvis, the commission is considerably higher than would be received through a cards or art publisher, where artists are paid around 6-10% of the wholesale price.

Jarvis added that the company was currently looking to launch new print-on-demand products. "We plan to add books, calendars and other products," he said. "But what is really key to our service is that it allows any content owner to participate and the widget solution enables other people's sites so that they can join the exciting and growing print-on-demand market."

Images must be at least 1,320x1,320 pixels and in JPEG, PNG or GIF format. Greetings cards are priced at £3 standard size £4 large, post cards are £1.30 (without envelope) or £1.50, and volume discounts are available; wall art is priced per product type and size.

The company is using a number of print-on-demand partners that run HP Indigo 7000 presses, including Precision Printing and The Print Foundry.
