FT Solutions invests £1m in digital equipment

Print services company FT Solutions Group has ramped up its digital production and output capacity with a £1m investment in new production printing systems.

The £25m-turnover company, formerly Forms Technology, has installed a Canon imagePress C7010VPS and Océ VarioPrint 6160 at its headquarters in Hertford, which is the home of its digital printing operation. Its direct marketing production facility company, Southampton-based FT Mail Solutions, has taken delivery of an Océ VarioStream 7450 twin continuous feed print production system.

The company, which employs more than 130 people, said its digital output has increased four-fold and that it expects a further increase over the next 12 months.

Managing director Tom Gurd said that the investment would help the Group benefit from changes in the marketplace and increasing demand for shorter run lengths.

He added: "Two key benefits are flexibility and quality. No longer do we have to print bulk stocks for warehousing; our customers literally get what they want when they want as virtually everything can be printed on demand these days and be highly targeted in terms of personalisation."
