Sweet dreams and supposition

There's nothing like a personnel merry-go-round to get people talking. As such, I've lost count of the number of calls and messages received about a hot topic of current supposition, that being "is it true that Charles Jarrold is going to join BGP?".

It's easy to put two-and-two together and get five, and if Charles did turn up at BGP he would indeed be the fifth Southernprint ex-pat to be tempted by the bright lights of Bicester. But while it would make a great headline, I can hereby state that the answer - at least at the time of writing - is no he is not.

Never say never, of course, but although Charles is hoping to find a suitable new opportunity within the printing industry, one could surmise that he might well find himself something with more appealing prospects than web offset printing.

Meanwhile, back in the fractious world of web, BGP has now assembled a superfluity of talent and it's going to be fascinating to see how the success of this dream team will be measured. Whisper it, but I don't hear so many gripes these days about BGP's activities in the trade. As previously noted, they have a lot of good kit and could and should be a force to be reckoned with in the market in a much more positive way.

So the question is, can the dream team change things such that Sir John Madejski can sleep soundly too?
