Ricoh launches new digital colour press

Ricoh has followed last month’s launch of the high volume Pro C9500 digital colour sheetfed press with the unveiling of another model targeted at commercial printers looking to expand their capabilities.
Available across EMEA from November, the Pro C7500 will succeed the Pro C7200/x series and is compatible with Ricoh’s original special colour toners that include white, clear, invisible red, gold, and silver.
Its built-in new neon colour profiles, meanwhile, can automatically add neon yellow and neon pink to expand the colour gamut for richer and more vivid colour expression.
Ricoh said the Pro C7500 has been developed “to further enable agile commercial printers to adapt to an ever-changing print production environment”.
The device comes with a base print speed of 85ppm that can be upgraded to 95ppm via an optional productivity upgrade unit.
One of the machine’s new features is an elastic intermediate transfer belt that enhances support for rough or uneven textured media.
It can handle a wide range of grammages from 40gsm to 470gsm, compared to the maximum recommended grammage of 360gsm for the Pro C7200/x series, and has been strengthened to support duplex printed long lengths up to 1,030mm.
This will enable users to broaden their product offering to include applications including light packaging, greetings cards, and wedding stationery.
The Pro C7500 is also equipped with the Ricoh Graphic Communications Operating System (GC OS), a newly developed engine controller that enables efficiencies in device use and the intuitive and simple operation of machine settings, according to Ricoh.
Also new is a powerful digital front-end developed in collaboration with Fiery that Ricoh said drives operational effectiveness.
Additional efficiencies that have been introduced include the quick and simple changeover of complete units for special colours, and improved operator replaceable units to support responsive system maintenance.
Simon Isaacs, national director at Ricoh UK Graphic Communications Group, told Printweek: “The Ricoh Pro C7500 occupies the mid-segment of the colour sheetfed systems, as classified by IDC. This positioning is reflected in its pricing, which aligns with its segment in the market.
“What sets the Pro C7500 apart is its exceptional application versatility and productivity enhancements. These features enable it to handle a wide range of value-added, high-margin print jobs, making it an attractive choice for businesses looking to boost their profits while managing costs effectively.”
As with the new Pro C9500, the Pro C7500’s capabilities are enhanced by a range of value-added software options including Ricoh Supervisor, Ricoh TotalFlow Production Manager, and FusionPro.
