Paper merchant PG Paper has hired a new managing director to support its growth plans across global markets and further diversification.

Rod Leach joined the Greenock, Scotland-headquartered company last month, bringing extensive experience as a managing director and almost 20 years of business and management experience across a variety of industries.

PG Paper, which was established by Poonam and Puneet Gupta in 2003, said Leach has a strong technical background combined with strategic focus and commercial acumen, while his passion for team and culture aligns with the company’s purpose.

Puneet Gupta commented: “I am incredibly proud of our recent team success, even in the face of recent unpredictable and adverse market conditions.

“The latest appointment of Rod will help to futureproof the business and support further ambitious growth plans through strong executive leadership. We are delighted to welcome him to the team as we embark on this next chapter of PG Paper.”

Leach added: “I look forward to working with the PG Paper team and playing a pivotal role in the company’s exciting next steps as a business as we set new growth plans to diversify our product range and expand our international presence.”

PG Paper employs more than 30 staff at its Greenock site, with strategic international locations across the globe.

The company’s turnover has grown from £20m in 2014 to just under £60m in its 2022 financial year. Its aspirations are to grow turnover to £250m within the next three years.

PG Paper’s head of logistics Fiona Dempster won the Freight Leader Award at the 2022 Amazon everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards.
