Xerox has unveiled more details of its plans for PrintWeekLive!, where it will officially launch an inline bookletmaker for the Versant.

The firm, one of the event’s headline sponsors, will be showing the 80ppm Versant 180, which was shown as a technology demonstration at last year’s event and also its big brother, the 100ppm Versant 3100.

According to Kevin O’Donnell, head of marketing – Graphic Communications and Production Systems, Xerox UK, Ireland and The Nordics, the show will also be the launchpad for a specially developed inline version of the new Watkiss Powersquare bookletmaker, the PSQ160X, with two-knife trimmer, which will be shown running full-bleed, inline booklet production with the 3100 on the stand.

“The thing about both Versants is they are, by far, the world’s most popular mid-range digital production presses. In Europe last year, we sold one every 90-minutes,” said O’Donnell.

“They’ve been accepted by the market and now we’re bringing new functions, like the new Watkiss running inline. We also hope to be show another new inline solution for the 180.”

Xerox will also be running live demonstrations of FreeFlow Core, its highly automated workflow, XMPie variable data, cross media and W2P production suite and partner Solimar Systems’ document software.

O’Donnell said: “The stand has two overarching elements; one is to do with automation and productivity, so we’ll be showing pre-press automation, customer acquisition automation and data automation, but done in an integrated way. The other key focus is CMYK plus,” he adds.

Xerox will use the technology on display to demonstrate how printers can differentiate themselves, add value and, most importantly, add profit on ‘standard’ CMYK jobs.
Its stand will also feature a range samples showing special colours and extended colour gamuts, special substrates, metallics, varnishes and added value embellishments.

O’Donnell also hinted that Xerox will be showing output from the soon to be launched European version of the 120ppm, six-colour Fuji Xerox Iridesse Production Press.

“You could argue that CMYK digital in certain areas is a commodity now, so we want to show everything that printers can do to differentiate themselves, most of it we’ll be doing ourselves, but we’ll also be partnering with other exhibitors, like Vivid,” said O’Donnell.

Xerox’s two workshop sessions will also focus on its CMYK plus theme.

PrintWeekLive! takes place at the Wasps Arena, Coventry on 7/8 March. To register for the show and keep up to date with the latest announcements on exhibitors, conference speakers and workshop sessions, visit
