Vivid director Lewis Evans posted a video on LinkedIn detailing the legal action the firm has taken, and thanking the professionals who helped the Leicester post-press machinery specialist assert its rights.
Vivid has requested that Printweek does not name the Chinese manufacturer involved due to the ongoing legal action.
A Vivid spokesperson said the competitor had copied the firm’s multi award winning VeloTaper taping unit, which is protected by multiple patents.
The enforcement action from a German legal team stopped the company from exhibiting the taper in Germany. The other manufacturer accepted the edict and removed its device from display.
“Having your own ideas blatantly ripped off for the last year has been fairly stressful, I’m glad it came to a conclusion in Vivid Laminating Technologies Ltd favour this week!” Evans said in his post, and also thanked Fespa officials for helping with the confiscation and legal follow-up.
