International Paper’s JetStar™ range goes from strength to strength

The latest version of International Paper’s JetStar™ range broadens the possibilities of high-speed inkjet and opens up high-end applications that offset and pre-print grades have struggled to deliver.

First launched in 2011, International Paper’s JetStar™ range is an inkjet-optimised smooth uncoated paper for reel-fed digital printing systems, designed to enable superior print quality over standard offset and preprint papers, whilst delivering outstanding colour performance. With recent enhancements to the range, it’s looking more impressive than ever before.

Producing a proven sheet that delivers on quality and reliability was paramount in the development of the JetStar range, and International Paper has been receiving positive feedback when it comes to the performance of the product as its popularity continues to grow.

“It is essential for us to have exceptional quality paper stock within our business.  There is no doubt that the JetStar delivers the level of quality and consistency we look for.” Helen K., Latcham Direct

JetStar: looking more impressive than ever before

JetStar paper is characterised by its brightness, opacity and a specially treated surface designed for pigmented inks. This provides colour stability and enhanced print performance, as well as less fading and enhanced water resistance – qualities that make JetStar ideal for printing jobs requiring superb performance and runnability.

James S, Western Europe technical services manager at International Paper, spoke about what makes JetStar stand out from the crowd along with the developments that have been made to the range.

What sets JetStar apart from other products in the market?
"The JetStar range is produced at our fully integrated paper mill, Saillat, in France. This means that we have full control over the end-to-end process, from the ingredients we include to the way it is produced.  Managing the complete process means our reels are not just reliable, but they deliver incredibly consistent quality.

"Continuing our commitment to quality, we work with a colour management specialist who attends customer visits alongside me, ensuring the customer gets the best result out of JetStar from their printing system."

What does the JetStar range consist of?
"We’ve now introduced JetStar Royal, engineered with a special surface finish to give the paper a sheen, which gives the perception of a silk coated sheet. We’ve responded to the demand we’ve seen for tinted reels and have the capability to produce up to 33 tints.

Designed for the most advanced high-speed inkjet presses, JetStar Royal achieves print quality close to offset and toner printing, delivering optimal colour performance.  It also carries PEFC and Ecolabel certifications. Typical applications for the papers include variable data printing and a wide range of high-end applications, including marketing materials such as direct mail campaigns and brochures."

Superior credentials
JetStar Royal has recently undergone rigorous testing to become approved by Océ (Canon group).  Tested on the Océ ColorStream, the paper was put through its paces to ensure it met the high standards required in terms of runnability and printability and was successfully awarded the Océ seal of approval and will now appear on the Océ qualified media list.

James commented: “JetStar is a proven sheet with the infrastructure of International Paper behind it,” he says. “In terms of performance, JetStar and JetStar Royal are leading products and the results we are seeing testify to that”.  James adds: “I worked as a printer for many years before joining International Paper, so I’ve experienced the challenges faced by customer and manufacturer, and I understand how important consistency is in both environments.  The JetStar ranges delivers its promise”.

Contact James directly for further information about the JetStar range.
