Mutoh premiered its new 1341SR Pro and 1641SR Pro sign and display printers at Fespa 2022 alongside familiar and updated products.

The 1341SR Pro and 1641SR Pro (54-inches/1.37m and 64-inches/1.63m-wide, respectively) were released at the start of 2022 as the second generation for Mutoh’s XpertJet sign and display range.

Fespa marked Mutoh’s first display of the new machines.

Nick Decock, EMEA marketing manager for Mutoh, told Printweek that the new AccuFine printhead, which is 33% wider and has 11% more nozzles than previous heads, meant a big step up for the XpertJet brand.

Similarly, he added, the head is directed by a new generation of Mutoh i-screen weaving algorithms, and designed to work directly with its new proprietary RIP software, Vertelith.

He said: “[The printers] bring a big step forward both in speed and quality.

“As opposed to many systems on the market, the beauty of the XpertJet Pro series is that the highest speed gain is obtained in high quality print modes. That’s why we promote them under the bonnet of ‘Quality up, speed up’.”

When corresponding print modes were compared between the new generation of XpertJets and their older equivalents - the ValueJet 1324X and the XpertJet 1641SR - the new models were more than twice as fast.

Mutoh is also displaying its new XpertJet 1682SR 64-inch/1.63m-wide printer in its new eight-colour setup, which features the addition of orange inks (CMYK+LcLmLk+Or).

Likewise, the XpertJet 1642WR dual head dye-sublimation printer will is on display, which Mutoh has equipped with two 1600 nozzle AccuFine printheads and their i-screen weaving algorithms.

The 1642WR promises to provide high quality production speeds - which Mutoh has stressed are sellable - of up to 61sqm/hr, and a top engine speed of 91sqm/hr.

Mutoh is also displaying its second generation UV desktop printers, the XpertJet 461UF and 661UF, designed for personalised one-off and small production prints onto materials and objects of varying sizes.

Decock said that the Mutoh team was very much looking forward to Fespa.

He said: “Since 2019, we have completely renewed our display and dye-sublimation printer offering, so we are very excited to stage at Fespa our entire XpertJet and XpertJet Pro series portfolio.”
