Morgana will host the launch of the new generation AeroCut multi-function finishing devices at the Print‘n’Finish event next month.

Manufactured by Uchida, the AeroCut X and AeroCut X Pro are in addition to Morgana’s own AutoCut Pro in the portfolio of multi-function products offered by the company.

Ray Hillhouse, VP sales and marketing for Morgana parent Plockmatic Group’s offline business unit, said: “As we exit the Covid restrictions customers are increasingly looking at automating the crease, cut, slit and perforated finishing applications.

“The new AeroCut is faster and more connectable than the previous versions, with a range of plug-ins to connect you to the desktop applications or to imposed files from the RIP.

“Products in this entry-level arena continue to expand the set of functions on offer. They provide incredible value for money for printers seeking simple yet productive, and ever more automated solutions. I’m expecting a significant amount of interest from a broad range of printers.”

Morgana said the AeroCut X is particularly suited to short-run digitally printed applications, such as business cards, where it can produce up to 10,800 full bleed standard business cards per hour. Other applications could include postcards, invitations, greetings cards, leaflets, and tickets.

The device has a patented feeding mechanism that Morgana said drastically reduces the risk of double feeds and mis-feeds, enabling greater productivity and accuracy.

The machine features two single blade slitters to trim top and bottom margins of the sheet, and two double blade slitters for bleed centre gutters. Trimmed waste is then deflected into a bin.

The self-sharpening slitter and guillotine can cut stocks measuring up to 370x750mm, in weights of up to 400gsm. The air-suction top-fed system transports stock precisely, feeding one-by-one from the top of the feed tray.

The device, which has detachable rollers for easier cleaning and maintenance, can also be fitted with barcode reading to further automate production. The barcodes can be generated during the imposition process which will automatically call up the correct cutting pattern in the machine.

The AeroCut X Pro is fully loaded with perforation in both directions, strike perforation, and the barcode reader fitted as standard.

Both machines can be supplied with a bespoke imposition package which has pre-set templates to match the most common jobs. Additionally, the barcodes and registration marks can be applied using a Fiery Impose software.

“Uchida have also improved the waste management by including an ioniser in the guillotine area to help the cut pieces drop and added an optional waste conveyor for those producing longer runs or longer sheets,” added Hillhouse.

Both the AeroCut X and AeroCut X Pro, which will replace the current multi-function Uchida devices – the AeroCut Prime and the AeroCut One, will be shown at the Print‘n’Finish event, being held in the Morgana showroom in Milton Keynes from 14 to 16 September.

The two machines will be available for sale from the dates of the event. The list price for the AeroCut X is £20,990 while the AeroCut X Pro starts at £29,990 and goes up to £38,990 if complete with all options.
