West Yorkshire Police recover 600,000 in counterfeit raids

West Yorkshire Police have recovered around 600,000 worth of counterfeit notes in a two-day search last week.

Lee Mitchell, 38, of Swinnow Gardens, and Christopher Brooke, 28, of Pudsey, Leeds, John Hartley, 60, of Cheltenham Road, Bradford, and Ian Cole, 58, of Golftyn Lane, Northope, were arrested last week.

Police stopped a Range Rover on the M62 near Saddleworth Moor on Wednesday (19 May), where they recovered £250,000 in counterfeit cash. A search on a farm in Northope the following day recovered approximately £350,000 of fake notes, as well as printing equipment.

The four men appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court, alongside Ursula Cole, 48, also of Golftyn Lane, yesterday (24 May), charged with conspiring to pass on counterfeit currency.

Mitchell, Brooke, Hartley and Ian Cole have all been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Friday. Ursula Cole was remanded on bail to also reappear on Friday.
