Wares ploughs 2m into binding, wrapping line

Binding specialist Wares has installed the UKs first Kolbus Ratiobinder KM 473 and a CMC high-speed inserting and wrapping line as part of a 2m investment.

The 18-station PUR and hot-melt Ratiobinder was specified with a ZU 841 vacuum gatherer, which can handle signatures down to two pages, an inline saw for two-up work and an HD 152 trimmer. It can also electro-statically fix inserts inline.

The binder, which has boosted capacity by 50%, was installed shortly before its auto-loading CMC Ritmica SH-30 wrapper/inserter.

Wares director Terry Kelly said that the CMC is currently being run offline "but we can use it either way, running it inline up to six inserts at 12,000cph or offline as a mailing and individual bagging service".

To house the new kit the 6m turnover firm added a 1,500m sq extension to its 4,000m2 factory. Following the investments it hopes to add 2m to its turnover in the next two years.
