TecnoLink keeps Jacobs pack deal

TecnoLink has retained its contract for design and repro services with Jacobs Biscuits in a 1.5m contract.

The Derby-based firm agreed the three-year deal for all of the Danone-owned brand's packaging last week and means that TecnoLink is the sole supplier (PrintWeek, 8 April) in the design and repro of its products.

"Our MIS and digital asset management systems were a major factor in the contract. It will also be of great benefit to them that they can go to one company for this service," said TecnoLink managing director Eamonn Blaney.

The firm has worked with Jacob's on origination and image management services since 1997. It picked up the sole supply contract in 2001.

Its service includes design and repro through to "all print tools" including flexo plates and gravure cylinders.

Blaney added that the contract features cost recovery as a one-off monthly service charge as opposed to individual job invoicing. He claimed that the system will simplify the "order generation and invoice process".

"Jacob's has reviewed its suppliers and some of its options were extravagant. We offered them a very bespoke service," he said.

TecnoLink will work on Jacob's brands including Cream Crackers, Ice Gems, Twiglets, Thai Bites and JacoBites, and similarly for the firm's other clients which include Diageo, Carlsberg Tetley and Rexam.

TecnoLink is part of Tecno Group, based in Derby with operations in Milton Keynes, Wigan and Leicester. Earlier this year the group underwent a financial restructure after its gravure business suffered a collapse in sales (PrintWeek, 8 January).
