The GPMU is stepping up its strike action as planned at ET Heron, with two 12-hour strikes called for next week.
The unions class two bindery staff will strike
from 00.15am to 12.15pm on Wednesday 18 July and 00.15am to 12.15pm on Thursday 19 July.
The news follows last weeks claims by GPMU Anglia branch secretary Vernon Robson that it was considering 24-hour or even 36-hour stoppages.
The strikes were called after the 149 members of the ET Heron bindery class two chapel voted two to one in favour of strike action.
The firm, part of the Wyndeham group, had refused to pay the 5-per-week productivity extra the union was asking for after new binding equipment was installed (PrintWeek, 29 June).
ET Heron declined to comment.
