St Ives teams again with Condé Nast for Wired relaunch

St Ives Plymouth has been revealed as the printer behind the relaunched Condé Nast magazine, Wired.

As revealed in PrintWeek last July, the technology, business and entertainment title will return to newsstands this year after being closed more than a decade ago with London-based Altaimage set to handle the magazine's pre-press requirements.

Wired is currently published in the US, but a UK version will be released "in the first half of this year" with St Ives Plymouth handling the text and Roche printing the cover.

The title is said to have an initial circulation of around 50,000 but some 150,000 copies could be produced for the debut issue.

Novapress Silk 80gsm will be used for the text paper with 170gsm Lumipress Art with matt finish for the cover.

The news comes as it emerged that St Ives was also the printer behind Condé Nast's new Love magazine – a new 334pp bi-annual title aimed at fashion fans.

Nicholas Coleridge, managing director of Condé Nast, said: "Wired is the market-leading magazine about how technology is changing the world; a highly influential and visionary title that explores ideas and innovation, culture, politics and business, and how technology impacts on contemporary civilisation."

The title will be edited by David Rowan, the former Jewish Chronicle and Guardian Online editor.

St Ives declined to comment on the contract.
