RL Moulton notches up 'record' magazine runs with Perfecta guillotine

RL Moulton has capped its 80th year by investing in a Perfecta 92TVC guillotine, which has helped the firm complete magazine work in "record time".

The Blackpool-based printer ordered the new kit to replace a 14-year-old Schneider Senator after initially being impressed with the Perfecta at Northprint.

The seven-staff business invested in the machine, which features enlarged side tables, because "you can never have too much room on the guillotine".

Owner Dave Moulton added: "It is good to be able to move work around easier without other jobs getting in the way."

The litho-operation, which specialises in brochures and local-area magazines, was also impressed with the efficiency and set-up of the kit.

Moulton added: "Setting it up is considerably quicker. Last week, we had three magazines to get out and we got them finished in record time. The Perfecta has also improved the look and feel of the final product.

"It runs a lot quicker than our old machine and is easier to set up with the computer console. Storing jobs also means we can work a lot faster and be more flexible," added Moulton.

The printer's pressroom also includes an A2 four-colour Sakurai 466 and a Senator guillotine.
