Ricoh Fantasy Football League September winner announced

The football season is well and truly under way and, unlike the predictable Barclays Premier league, where Chelsea and Manchester United have taken their perennial top spots, the competition on PrintWeek's fantasy football competition is hotting up.

Leading the field for the month of September, the PrintWeek charity shield winner if you will, and taking the first month's prize, is Graham Fullarton of NB Group.

His team Intermenan clocked up 201 points in September. As this month's winner, Fullarton receives two tickets to a Coventry City match, as well as the chance to nominate two people to play at the Ricoh Arena against a printweek.com/Ricoh XI side, plus one month's banner advertising on printweek.com for his company.

With Liverpool FC's Steven Gerrard in command, the team sports a trio of Liverpool players, including Fernando Torres with his hefty price tag of £21.5m.

Taking the second spot is Steven Roberts' Croppers Convertors with 196 points, followed by Wayne Nixon's South Shields Massive FC, with 192 points.

Elsewhere in the world of football, September has provided us with some controversial moments – be it Emmanuel Adebayor's boot-to-face mishap or Craig Bellamy doing his best Floyd Mayweather impression on a Manchester United fan. Okay, so maybe we have seen a lot of controversy at the Eastlands rather than across the league, but it's been an eventful month all the same with new boys Burnley being the surprise story of the seasons so far, coming up and giving the big boys a fright.

PrintWeek will be updating you with the club's inevitable slide down the table as the season goes on.
