Newcastle-based PDG will run off revamped packaging for 26 out of the Quorn ranges, which number almost 50. Three six-colour Komori Lithrone 40 presses will print the cartons sporting slick photography and logo on white backing.
PDG has worked on Marlow Foods mushroom-protein meals for over 10 years, said commercial manager Chris Jones: Marlow is aggressive in launching new ranges and pack designs. The product has expanded in a big way.
Print runs for the 12-month contract will go from 50,000 to 750,000, he said. The packs are bound for the UK, Holland and Sweden.
Some of the cartons are the same size and shape, and we benefit from the longer print runs, he said. The value of the contract is believed to be between 250,000 and 500,000. Seven Newcastle is doing the origination.
PDG employs 130 staff and also uses Bobst kit, plus Scitex pre-press including a Dolev 800.
Benson Box in Leicester is handling new-look packs for the remaining ranges such as garlic and herb fillets and nuggets.
Three six-colour Heidelberg Speedmasters will do runs of up to 500,000, said sales and marketing manager David Devenport.
Londons JKR Design came up with the new artwork for the packs.
