Presstige to offer press conveyance

Four engineering firms have joined forces and are about to launch Presstige, a press conveyancing service that could save printers tens of thousands of pounds on used Heidelberg presses.

"Instead of buying at ultra low prices and selling at extortionate prices, we found that we could provide a printer-to-printer selling service," said company secretary John Tancock.

Deals are constructed by buyers submitting the details of the kit they're looking for online, which are then matched to a database of available machines.

Buyers can then request more information if a particular press appeals. The seller is then contacted, and asked to complete a Sellers Contract, and the buyer a Buyers Contract, tying them both into a 3% commission once the deal is done.

The actual negotiations are left to the two firms involved.

Presstige supports both the seller and buyer, by offering additional services such as "truly independent engineer reports", refurbishment, cleaning, and installation and decommissioning, all at a reduced cost.

"Based on the report, we can tell the buyer exactly what is required to bring the machine to their required standard, and if that work needs to be carried out now or in the future," said Tancock.

Guarantees are also available on presses and deals can be financed through a tie-up with Surrey Asset Finance, part of the Close Brothers Group.

Presstige also has an agreement with Bttcher for the supply of rollers.

The firms involved in Presstige are Hei-tech, Imptech, JGC and JTC, and its eight directors are all ex-Heidelberg electrical or mechanical engineers.

The firm, which has refurb locations in Harlow, Essex, and Kent, will only deal in Heidelberg presses, but may diversify as more engineers come on board.
