Pitney Bowes targets high-volume transactional printers with new Intellijet

Pitney Bowes has launched the latest in its Intellijet line of transactional mail printers, aimed at improving lean manufacturing for its users.

The Intellijet 42 features a 42-inch wide web format that can process four-up transactional statements in full digital colour and at speeds up to 183m per minute.

It has a duty cycle of up to 140m letter-sized impressions per month and has been designed to produce transactional documents at the speed of a press.

According to head of printstream solutions Clive Stringer, the machine will be aimed at larger sites with huge volumes to drive through.

He said: "In reality are we going to sell 100 into the UK? Probably not. But a small number of organisations are in a position to take advantage of industrial strength production.

"We are promoting the white paper factory environment, where everything is produced on site, nothing is pre-prepared. This is the next step in enabling our customers to achieve that."

The company believes that the machine represents an "important industry breakthrough" in efficiency and throughput for high-integrity transactional print and mail operations.

The IntelliJet 42 Printing System is the fourth machine in its line, following the Intellijet 20 and the Intellijet 30, which comes in two different overall sizes.

Pitney Bowes' Intellijet range is based on HP's inkjet web press, with the 42-based on the HP T400 model.
