Pitney Bowes boosts Intellijet Printing Systems

Stamford, CT-based Pitney Bowes this week unveiled a host of enhancements to its IntelliJet Printing Systems, including higher print speed options for the HP inkjet-based technology aimed at high-volume transactional mailers.

The IntelliJet enhancements will be showcased at the upcoming drupa, but will be available worldwide immediately with installations scheduled throughout 2012, Kevin Marks, VP,  Global Product Management and Marketing, Production Print, Document Messaging Technologies, told PrintWeek.

"We are hearing from leading print and mail organizations that they desire a combination of faster print speed, along with higher quality and integrity across print and mail processes," Marks added.

"As an example, moving to digital color print allows operations to consolidate smaller jobs into a single print stream to streamline productivity.  They can also print and finish the mail pieces in pre-sort order or even household documents into a single envelope per household to optimize postal spend."

Among the enhancements are print speeds of 800ft/min for monochrome production for the IntelliJet 30 and IntelliJet 42 Printing Systems that can produce 4-up letter applications at up to 6,982 impressions per minute (ipm) and A4 applications up to 6,570ipm.

There is also an option to double the speed of the IntelliJet 20 Printing System to 400ft/min for color printing of transactional statements, enabling more full color, personalized, 100% variable data documents per shift while maintaining outstanding print quality.

The enhancements will be available for both existing and new IntelliJet customers and Marks said: "Our existing IntelliJet customers are excited about Pitney Bowes providing them with the opportunity to leverage their investment to further increase their operational performance to meet critical production deadlines.

"For new print and mail operations that are exploring moving to digital color print, the IntelliJet Printing Systems family now offers an even greater range of format size up to 42 inches, print speed up to 800ft/min and quality to meet a broad of operational requirements."
