Photobition Scanachrome has added Britains first Vutek UltraVu 3360 piezo digital printer to its wide-format arsenal.
The eight-colour 3360, which can be configured to print four, six or eight colours, can deliver a resolution of 720dpi.
Scanachrome operations director Karl Feil said: It provides a fabulous opportunity because it can print at almost twice the speed of the 3300. Also, if you set it up with CMYK and a lighter set of CMYK its great for mid-tone colours.
The 3m-wide machine has been installed at Photobition Scanachromes 2,000m2 Skelmersdale factory to complement its existing Vutek equipment, including 3300 and 5300 piezo machines, Vutek 1630 and 3200 5m-wide digital airbrush machines and two large-format drum machines.
Photobition marketing manager Rob Kelly said Scanachrome handled the bulk of the groups large-format printing for the UK market.
He confirmed that Photobitions board was considering the feasibility of a possible buyout by senior management.
However, he stressed that evaluation was at an early stage, and only one option of many.
