Parker and Sons grows out of 70-year-old printing site

Parker and Sons is starting a new chapter in its 70-year history as it closes the doors on its old premises.

The Burton-based company will close its Guild Street site tomorrow (11 July). It is moving to cater for planned future expansion and to acquire more modern premises.

Matthew Parker, managing director at Parker and Sons, said: "To maintain the high standards our customers expect, it is important for our progress that we made this move. Our production and design departments will be even more efficient, and our services improved further.

"The move from Guild Street enables us to further modernise our operations and gives provision for future expansion."

The company is planning to overhaul the facility gradually, starting with a new folding machine. Parker declined to comment on the cost of the move.

Parker and Sons began by printing posters for companies in London and Cornwall, as well as church magazines, when access to photocopiers and home computers was limited.

The new development adjoins The Maltings, a refurbished three-storey building which provides nine studio and office spaces, as well as workshop units totalling 5326sqm.
