Overmatter: sock it to them

Overmatter is well aware that the trend for all things personalised shows no sign of abating. You only need to read the Briefing article on page eight of this very issue to see evidence of that.

We must give a shout-out, then, to Dan Walker (@mrdanwalker), the dapper host of BBC Breakfast and various sports programmes.

In a recent tweet Dan highlighted the perhaps relatively unknown world of personalised socks to his +530,000 followers on Twitter, posting an image of someone (it’s not clear who) wearing a snazzy pair of red socks emblazoned with Dan’s charming chops as they watched the popular morning programme.

A brief internet search reveals that the supply of personalised socks seems to be something of a booming business, with a number of print specialists getting in on the act including Bags of Love and Printster.

At the best part of £20 a pair, they look like a nice little earner.

And, thinking about it, it would be a fairly bargainacious way for Dan to wind up blowhard breakfast telly rival Piers Morgan, by sending him a similar pair. Having said that, Piers probably already has several pairs. With his own face on them.
