Print 4 Marketing, an exhibition aimed at end-users of print including corporate marketing departments and print buyers as well as printers is being launched in October.
Organised by Trade Events, the firm behind Print UK and Scotprint, the show aims to promote the application of print to specifiers.
Were launching the new event as a result of discussion with a lot of companies who recognise traditional print shows have been losing audience and have to change, said Trade Events Gary Swinford. We need to attract an audience beyond print production.
The first Print 4 Marketing event takes place at Olympia from 29-31 October, the slot originally booked for Print UK. We have other plans for Print UK, said Swinford. There wont be a show in 2002, but it will be back in 2003.
A second event, Print 4 Marketing Scotland, which replaces Scotprint, will take place in Glasgow from 20-21 November. Trade Events plans to add further regional shows in 2003.
Print 4 Marketing is being supported by the BAPC and PaperCom Europe, an alliance of firms that aims to promote paper-based communication. PaperCom Europe was looking to run some events to promote print as a marketing tool and we were able to come together, said Swinford.
More and more print is being used for business purposes without print you cant market, said BAPC chairman Sidney Bobb. Historically print has been promoted by how its done and not what it can do for the client. With Print 4 Marketing Trade Events is hoping to attract printers as well as suppliers to exhibit.
Both PrintWeek and sister title Marketing are media partners for the event.
