Print UK 2003 is cancelled

Next years Print UK, scheduled for the NEC in April, has been cancelled, leaving Northprint as the major UK print exhibition in 2003.

Sidney Bobb, chairman of the BAPC, the co-owner of the exhibition, said: While our members widely support the need for new digitally focused events, it has become clear following broad industry consultation that in the current economic climate a national event is not sustainable.

The announcement follows last weeks revelation that Heidelberg had opted not to exhibit at Print UK but would attend Northprint, which takes place in Harrogate from 13-15 May.

Gary Swinford, managing director of Print UK organiser Trade Events, said the 2003 show had been clearly the right idea when it was researched in 2001, but that next spring would be the wrong time.

Bobb praised Swinfords pivotal role in providing the BAPCs members with high quality events.
