Manroland denies finishing exit rumour

Press manufacturer Manroland has denied claims that it is to stop selling finishing equipment.

The German manufacturer currently distributes binders, guillotines, three-knife trimmers and saddlestitchers in the UK for Wohlenberg and Osako.

In recent weeks rumours have emerged that it is to close the post-press department and concentrate on its core products.

However, Gary Doman, sheetfed sales director at Manroland GB, told PrintWeek that talk of Manroland letting go of its post-press division is "just a rumour".

"Of course we have looked at our options in recent times but currently post-press remains firmly within the services of Manroland GB.

"Should there be any development we would bear in mind our customers and let them know first."

He added that some staff in the finishing department were made redundant when the company made a series of cost-cutting measures, but the department had not been specifically targeted for cuts.
