Former KBA boss Kelvin Lowe will use Newstec as the launchpad for his new venture, Press Systems.
Lowe set the business up at the beginning of the year, targeting materials handling at commercial printers and newspapers.
He has added Danish palletising specialist Dan to his list of agencies. "They are well known in the food industry, and my brief is to expand their presence in the print sector," said Lowe. "Newspapers are really starting to get into palletising in a big way.
"
Lowe also reported strong interest in materials handling kit from FMC. A system installed at Kappa Packaging in Birmingham uses robotic automated guide vehicles to store paper reels eight metres high.
"These machines can stack them higher than a person with a forklift can, they manage the inventory and they work 24 hours large printers are very interested and Im also talking to a couple of paper manufacturers."
