Lick UK assets sold to Kitson and Brown in pre-pack deal

The administrator for Lick UK has confirmed that it has sold the assets of the business to Lick Group in a pre-pack deal.

Lick UK went into administration with insolvency practitioner BWC Business Solutions on 7 April.

Paul Whitwam, partner at BWC, told PrintWeek yesterday (12 April): "A short while after the appointment, we sold the business to Lick Group in a pre-pack sale."

All jobs have been transferred to the new business, with no redundancies made.

Kitson has been a director at Lick Group since it was incorporated on 28 August 2008. The company filed dormant accounts on 10 December 2009.

Andrew Brown, who was group operations director at Lick UK, was appointed as a director at Lick Group on 16 March 2010.

Kitson was not available for comment at this time, however in February this year, he said: "It's [2009] been a shocking year, it's been horrible. But we've moved three buildings into one and bought another business so we've done a lot in a recession."

Whitwam said the current deal had been discussed with Lick UK's three biggest creditors, which account for around 70% of what was owed.

He added that the direct mail market had gone "off the radar", with business down 30%.

Lick had been attempting to refinance until a winding-up petition was placed on the company, he explained.

On the company's website, its corporate information changed on Friday 9 April from Lick (UK) Ltd to Lick Group Ltd.

According to PrintWeek's 2009 Top 500, Lick UK had a turnover of £3.7m and employed 72 staff.
