Leicester College benefits from Duplo gift

Duplo International has become a sponsor of Leicester Colleges National Printing Skills Centre following its donation of digital and offset post-press kit.

The Duplo suite consists of its DC-545 slitter/cutter/creaser, a top-of-the-range System 5000 bookletmaker, a DB-200 perfect binder, a 490 guillotine, a Foldmaster 200SA and a range of thermal binders and laminators.

Not only will the kit be used to train the 700 students on the college's print courses, but it will also be used by the students to produce work such as brochures, handbooks, posters, prospectuses and business cards.

"This means the college is able to save costs... and by printing and finishing live jobs, the students can learn their skills in a real production environment," said Leicester College education and training liaison officer Damian Breen.

Duplo will also use the suite as a Midlands demonstration and showroom facility.

"And as newer models are launched or the college needs other kit, we will rotate the machinery in the suite," said Duplo UK marketing manager Peter Jolly.
