Indigo closed two deals for digital presses on the first morning of Northprint adding digital printing firepower to Manchester and Leeds.
Manchester-based MDA group ordered an Indigo UltraStream 2000, which includes the first commercial installation in the UK of an ink mixing station for the UltraStream.
"Youve got to keep ahead of the game, thats why weve gone for the UltraStream for the speed and quality," said MDA managing director Ben Shaw.
MDA will use the new press to grow its digital print business and in particular personalised printing for corporates.
"Blue chips will be more pro-active in one-to-one because theyve got a more long-term view and understand the value of personalisation," said Shaw. "Weve gone for a six-colour machine because thats important for them, special colour is where digital has fallen down in the past."
Leeds-based Ashdown Products bought a TurboStream for use at its commercial print division Ashmiller Lithographic.
"Clients were asking for quick turnaround and we need to meet our clients expectations," said managing director Graham Golisti. "Its what the print market in Leeds needs. I think theres a market, if not well try damn hard to create it."
The TurboStreams six-colour capability was important for the firm. " Its the reason for the Indigo," said Golisti.
